Pity the poor person with allergies. The Carolina Herrera salon in Highland Park Village was so colorful with the great Herrera bouquets of spring designs that Claritin® should have been served as favors on Tuesday, April 21. It was pretty darn obvious from the guests’ attire, this group loves their Carolina.
For this rare occasion, the store was shuttered for normal hours for a luncheon honoring the Crystal Charity Ball new members (Anne Besser, Bunny Cotten, Laura Downing, Susan Glassmoyer, Cheryl Joyner, Brooke Shelby and Stacey Walker).
Poor Bunny was wearing shades due to sick eyes. Please no jokes about how eating carrots might help. And, yes, Bunny was “Bunny” before she married husband Kevin Cotten… Piper Wyatt was back in town after a month of being on the road due to work…Art Ball 50 Chair Nancy Carlson was still receiving “Congrats” for her blowout at the Dallas Museum of Art. Was she happy? Delighted and grateful!…Gigi Salley was amazed that the construction on the family home was taking so long. They’re just finishing up the garage…Even former CCB chairs Cynthia Mitchell, Connie O’Neill and Aileen Pratt were on hand.
The lineup of tables with white tablecloths that extended the full-length of the salon was highlighted by arrangements of white peonies, place cards and glassware with champagne flutes, of course.
In welcoming guests, Carolina Herrera Store Manager Melinda Rathke invited the ladies to shop the ball gowns, day frocks and string bikinis. That last one resulted in many of the gals doing the slinky eye accompanied by giggle. As if….
Only downer was the absence of new Herrera President Francois Kress, who had been grounded in New York City due to ugly weather.
Following luncheon, a showing of fall fashions was provided. No string bikinis were in the lineup, just typical fabulous Herrera designs.
